Adding a taxonomy code in PM

To add a taxonomy code in PM, follow the steps below.

 

1. Start with the billing profile for electronic claims. You can skip this step if you don't bill electronically. Go to Settings -> Main -> 5010. Next for each billing profile used add the Taxonomy code in the taxonomy box on the GENERAL tab by clicking the pick button(little box with 3 dots) and adding a record [click ADD] for the taxonomy code [click SAVE]like in the example below [We've used the taxonomy code for Chiropractic below]:

 

 

Also, on the BILLING PROVIDER tab add the taxonomy code in the taxonomy box and click OK. 

 

2. Add the taxonomy code in the doctors file. Go to Tasks -> Lists -> Doctors List. Open the doctors file and add the taxonomy code in the taxonomy box by clicking the pick button(little box with 3 dots) add the taxonomy code if it is not listed and SAVE. & Close. We used the taxonomy code for Chiropractic below:

 

3. If you submit Paper Claims and need the taxonomy code for a certain insurance carrier then you can create a Doctor Insurance Pin with the taxonomy code. To do so click the Blue link at the bottom of the doctor file labeled "View Doctor Insurance Pins". Next, add a record and select the insurance company you need the taxonomy code for. Fill in the boxes in which you need a taxonomy code, click SAVE. Box 24I Shaded can be filled in with ZZ - taxonomy code if needed. We used the Chiropractic taxonomy code in the example below:

 

4. If you need to print the taxonomy code in box 19, then it can be added to the patient's file on the InsForm tab in "Addl Claim Information" box. Click SAVE. We used the taxonomy code for Chiropractic in our example below:
